Making a counterclaim through Money Claim Online

If you have a claim against the claimant (a counterclaim) and want to make this online you can do so - unless the claimant is the Crown (e.g. Government Departments or Agencies). If you are unsure, ring the Helpdesk

You can only make a counterclaim online if you are filing a defence to all or part of the claim.

If you wish to make a counterclaim, once your defence and counterclaim have been received, the proceedings will be transferred to the appropriate county court. We will notify you how to proceed and tell you the name and address of the court it has been transferred to.

You will have to pay a fee to start the counterclaim, unless you are eligible for a fee exemption or remission. Click the link to find more information about Fees/Exemptions, on Her Majesty´s Court Service website. This fee will have to be paid to the court.
