How to use MCOL to issue a claim

Money Claim Online (MCOL) is Her Majesty's Court Service's first step in bringing court users an Internet based service.

MCOL is designed to be easy to use and has a help facility at each stage that users can call up if required. You should note, however, this does not include legal advice. For example, it will not tell you whether you have a valid claim. Such advice can be obtained from a solicitor, law centre, local Citizen's Advice Bureau or other advice centre. If you would like more information about where you can obtain legal advice, click on the links below:

MCOL can be used by individuals, solicitors, government departments; or businesses if they are:

and where the claim has been issued online they can also:

Defendants are able to complete and submit an acknowledgement of service, defence, part admission and counterclaim online, where the claim was issued electronically in the name of 'Northampton County Court'.

MCOL will ask you to complete a series of screens. Each screen will deal with a specific piece of information that is required, for example, your full name and address, the name and address of the person you are suing and the amount of money you are claiming. There is an issue limit of 100 claims per login.
