Battersea Court hosts Mayoral visit
The Mayor and Mayoress of Wandsworth will next week visit South Western Magistrates’ Court
to meet staff and observe courts in session.
Mayor Mr Colin Dawe and Mayoress Mrs Dawn Dawe will visit the court in Lavender
Hill, Battersea on Tuesday 13 January. They will be greeted by Bench Chairman
Alex Segal and Deputy Chairman Annie Page as well as Bench Legal Manager
Denise Duncan and Bench Office Manager Jan Hartnett. The Mayor and Mayoress
will tour the site and will have an opportunity to meet court staff, district
judges and lay magistrates.
Organiser of the visit Denise Duncan commented:
"We are really looking forward to the visit as it is an excellent opportunity
to promote the relationship of the court with the local community, raising
our profile and awareness of the court’s work amongst the public.”
Jan Hartnett, Bench Office Manager at the courthouse added:
"We are delighted that the Mayor and Mayoress are visiting. The event
should provide them with a good understanding of the preparatory work that
takes
place to ensure smooth operations in the courtroom as well as meeting the
staff. They will also experience the court in session.”
Bench Chairman, Alex Segal said:
"The visit by the Mayor and Mayoress provides an excellent opportunity
to strengthen the links between the Wandsworth Bench and Wandsworth Borough
Council. Both are committed to the service of the residents of Wandsworth
