Forms and leaflets

There are leaflets available to help understand court fees and whether they need to be paid.

EX50 – County Court Fees – including fees for family cases

This leaflet contains a selection of the most common county court civil and family fees

Please note that the fee information contained in the EX50 is not the complete list of all courts fees payable. The full lists of fees are set out on the Statutory Instruments

The Statutory Instruments are the authority on court fees; the EX50 is merely a guide to a selection of fees and must be used as such.

EX160A – Court Fees – Do I have to pay them?

In certain circumstances, you, as an individual, may not have to pay a court fee. You could be granted a full remission, where the entire fee is non-payable, or you may be granted part remission, where you pay a contribution to the fee. This leaflet sets out those circumstances.

The EX160A is a combined leaflet and form. You should read the leaflet EX160A carefully before completing the application form for fee remission, EX160.

You may be eligible for a remission of the court fee, in full or in part, if:

1. You are in receipt of a means-tested benefit, namely:

2. Your gross annual income does not exceed a specified limit; or

3. You would suffer financial hardship if you had to pay the court fee
