Complaints, Compliments and Suggestions

Complaints

Fastrak; you told us that you cannot always supply a copy of the Listing Notification as in some cases these were not produced by the Courts.

We said; under these circumstances we will accept any other documentation from the Court giving the correct case number.

Some solicitors indicated that they did not want to participate in the Fastrak scheme and preferred to submit claims in their usual way.

We said; the scheme is not mandatory and you have a choice as to whether or not you use it. However we will only expedite Fastrak claims; other claims are subject to the usual targets.

Out of Times; you said that the letters produced when penalties were imposed were inappropriate.

We said; we will alter the wording of the letters and consult with all the regions of the NTT to apply a consistent approach.

Compliments

Fastrak; you told us that you wanted the Fastrak scheme to be increased and extended to all regions.

In September 2006 we introduced a new national Fastrak scheme to extend the limits and encompass all regions.

Solicitors Training Courses; you told us that you found these very useful, and asked if we could provide courses for solicitor advocates.

We are continuing to run courses for solicitors and for solicitor advocates and have achieved appropriate accreditation from the Law Society.

Suggestions

Copy Bills; you asked us to send copies of every claim taxed.

We discussed this but decided that it would not be practical for us to do so on every case. However, we have asked all our determining officers to ensure that they send some indication as to why items have been taxed down or disallowed. This may be by way of a short note on the summary sheet or a separate slip. We will send a copy of the bill on larger cases if necessary, to show what has been reduced.

Website; You asked us if it was possible to download claim forms from the internet.

We asked our webmaster to arrange this so that you can now complete forms on the screen and print them off ready for submission.

You said that it was difficult to navigate the site to find out which regions covered which Courts.

We attached a directory of Regions and Courts to the home page.
