Short Form Bill Direction


Note to Receivers and Solicitors Lodging Requests for Detailed Assessment of Receivers' Remuneration under Rule 43 of the Court of Protection Rules 2001 and Solicitors' Costs in Court of Protection Matters under Rules 84-89 of the Court of Protection Rules 2001.

With effect from 1st June 2004 The Supreme Court Costs Office will accept a short form bill of costs where the amount of the bill does not exceed £3000,excluding VAT and disbursements. A model form for a short form bill is attached hereto. When lodging the request for assessment, the following should be submitted: -

1. Short Form Bill
2. Request for Assessment (Form N258B)
3. Fee of £100
4. The document giving the right to detailed assessment.
5. A statement giving the name and address for service of any person having a financial interest in the outcome of the assessment.
6. The relevant papers in support of the bill including the correspondence and attendance file for the period covered by the claim in the bill. No duplicates should be lodged.
7. Any fee notes of counsel and receipts or accounts for other disbursements relating to items claimed.
