Bridgend Law Courts Open Day Saturday 17 October 2009 10am-3pm
The Law Courts, Sunnyside, Bridgend, CF31 4AJ
Come along to the Bridgend Law Courts to find out about our work as part of the criminal justice system, together with the work carried out in or family and civil courts
A wide variety of exhibitors are joining us for the day:
• Crown Prosecution Service
• South Wales Police including a speed camera unit, traffic control vehicle and the Crime Prevention Unit,
• Probation Service,
• Local Council Trading Standards,
• Fostering Service,
• OGWR DASH,
• GVS Drugs Intervention Team,
• Prison Service including seeing inside a cell van,
• Youth Offending Team,
• Restorative Justice,
• Witness Care,
• CAFCASS Cymru, and many more.
Come and see a mock trial and take part in a question and answer session. Choose how you would deal with sentencing and find out what the “right” decision is.
Cell tours, prize competitions for children, fun photos, and an inter-school quiz for the borough’s secondary schools will be running throughout the day.
Entry is free. Take part on our survey and be entered into a draw to win £25 worth of M&S vouchers.

The Centre will host a busy and varied programme of activities including opportunities to:

• Ask questions and understand the role of court staff
• Watch a drama about a woman’s experiences of prison and the impact on her life.
• Browse exhibition stands from numerous agencies
• Meet a magistrate – meet a prosecutor
• Competition for children – £10 book token prize and £50 donation for their school.

Entry and activities are free of charge and no advance booking is required. With lots to see and do the open day promises to be of interest to all age ranges.
