Crown Court at Warrington: Second Tier Centre Status


With the concurrence of the Lord Chancellor and pursuant to paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Directions issued by the Lord Chief Justice for the Classification of the Business of the Crown Court and Allocation to Crown Court Centres, dated the 2nd day of November 1987, and amended the 26th day of May 1995, it is directed that from Monday the 7th day of April 1997 the Crown Court at Warrington shall be deemed a Second Tier Centre.

From that date the Crown Court at Warrington shall be treated as a Centre at which a High Court Judge will regularly sit.

It is further directed that, from that date, the Justices from the Petty Sessions areas of Halton and Warrington on committing a person for trial under the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980, Section 6 shall if the offence, or any of the offences, is included in classes 1, 2 or 3, commit that person to the Crown Court at Warrington.
