Dimond -v- Lovell

To all Designated Civil Judges

The House of Lords has today given leave to appeal in the case of Dimond v Lovell. It is obviously desirable that pending cases which depend upon how the House of Lords decides the appeal - and I understand that there are some 40,000 nationwide - should be dealt with consistently with one another. Having discussed the matter with the Master of the Rolls, my advice is that these cases should, unless there are other issues that can conveniently be dealt with at once, be stayed until the House of Lords' decision is known.
