How we make the payment

From 5th March 2007 onwards all payments from the National Taxing Team will be made on 5th or 19th of each month (or the next working day if that date falls on a weekend or public holiday), as opposed to daily. This is to standardise payment arrangements as part of a phased move towards implementation of DCA payment policy.

To ensure swift receipt, you are urged to accept payments by BACS. If you have not already done so, please submit the following details on letter headed stationery:

Supplier Number; Bank Account Name; Bank Account Number; Roll No (if applicable); Sort Code.

to: DCA Supplier Maintenance Team,  DX 134280 Newport Cleppa. (Freephone: 0800 783 0162).

If you have any questions relating to this notice please contact the National Taxing Team Customer Service Manager or telephone 07836 282445

Practitioners Questions Answered

Q: What difference will it make if I opt to receive payments via BACS transfer?

A: Payments through the BACS system will be made directly into your bank account within 3 working days of the payment date. Cheques may take up to 5 working days to be received at your stated address.

Q: How will I know which claims the payment relates to?

A: The remittance advice, issued as part of the payment run, will list all items included in the payment. (Payments via BACS may reach your account more quickly than you receive notification through the post)

Q: What details will this notification include?

A: The payment notification will include the NTT claim reference numbers (as now) and any solicitors/barristers references as quoted on the original claim form.

Q: Will I still receive individual notices of determination from the NTT regions?

A: Yes. The NTT office processes remain the same. This notification will confirm that the payment will be included in the next payment run.

Q: If I decide to opt for BACS transfer what should I do next?

A: Provide details in writing, on letter headed stationery, of your supplier number, bank account name, number, roll number (if applicable) and sort code to MoJ Supplier Maintenance Team, DX 134280, Newport Cleppa.

Q: Can I continue to receive payable orders if I wish?

A: Yes. It is not compulsory for you to change payment methods at this stage, but it is preferable to use BACS for reasons of security, as well as ensuring that payments are received as expeditiously as possible.
