Transfer of Cases from Northern Circuit to Wales and Chester Circuit

The Presiding Judges and Circuit Administrators for the Wales and Chester Circuit and the Northern Circuit have approved, pursuant to paragraph 31(b) Practice Direction (Criminal Proceedings: Consolidation) [2002] 1 WLR 2870 the following general arrangements for the transfer of cases from the Northern Circuit to the Wales and Chester Circuit: (1) Cases originating from Stockport Sessional Areas may be transferred for hearing at the Crown Court at Knutsford provided that they are Class 4 cases that do not require a video link. (2) Plea and Directions Hearings will be held on the Northern Circuit and trial dates will be set at those hearings. The Chester listing office will provide the Northern Circuit/Manchester listing office with a selection of available dates in advance of Plea and Directions Hearings. (3) Once the trial date is fixed the case will be transferred to the Crown Court at Knutsford and all subsequent case management and after trial work will be undertaken by the Wales and Chester Circuit.
