Kenneth J Ludlam
Kenneth Ludlam qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1967 and after a period at Peat, Marwick and Mitchell (now KPMG) joined the Bowater Corporation. In 1977 Kenneth joined Hanson PLC as Deputy Financial Controller. During the next 27 years he held the position of Treasurer, became Group Chief Accountant in 1986 and was appointed an Associate Director in 1990. In September 2002 he assumed the position of Head of Internal Audit and Risk Management, during which he was actively involved in corporate governance, Turnbull reporting and the introduction and running of internal audit. Kenneth is also a Chartered Management Accountant and a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and the Institute of Taxation. Following retirement from Hanson PLC in September 2003, Kenneth now holds a portfolio of appointments including:
- Non-Executive Director (appointed by the Ministry of Defence) of the Armed Forces Personnel Administration Agency (AFPAA), and chair of the Audit Committee. Also reports to the MoD on the Armed Forces Pension Scheme;
- Non-Executive Member of the Cabinet Office (including Civil Service Pension Scheme) Audit & Risk Committee;
- Non-Executive Chair of Audit Committee and member of the Management Board of the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (London);
- Non-Executive Chair of Audit Committee and member of the Management Board of the Government Car and Despatch Agency;
- Trustee of the Hanson PLC Central Pension Fund;
- member of external committee at CIMA connected with financial reporting;
- Trustee and Honorary Treasurer of CRASH - the construction & building industries' charity for the homeless; and
- Honorary Treasurer of the Construction Products' Association;
Kenneth is married to Monica and they have a son of 27 and a daughter of 26. Hobbies include swimming, gardening, walking and travel
